Overrated Bands.

I totally agree with your top three assesments and I'll throw in REM, Danzig, Kiss and Led Zeppelin.

I'll probably get my head chewed off for that last one lol

What is your name?
Posted: 11/30/2009 10:51:05 PM
I'm kind of weird. I don't mind giving up my name, but it's not on my profile which is a little odd since it's not like I'm trying to hide. I usually don't care about the name as I won't remember it until I've taken an interest in the person I'm talking to...online and off.

Does your art help with negative experiences/feelings?
Posted: 11/30/2009 10:01:45 PM
Art is my blood, sweat, tears, agony, ecstacy, burden, love, loss and my joy....without it I am nothing.

The answer is a profound YES.

Are our musical tastes set by age 25?
Posted: 11/30/2009 9:58:35 PM
I don't think it's true at all. I found that I had a very closed mind when I was younger and as I've gotten older I've learn to enjoy far more. I'm one of those people who says I love all music and mean it. Not these fake punks who say they like everything except country(which I love) or the ones who don't exclude anything, but you play some blast beat death metal like Nile and they're like "eww turn it off!"

I find that the genres I enjoy most are Metal, Classical and Dance music and my love for the more poppy rock is also on the rise. I'm a musician though so I think that sets me apart from a lot of people.

VIKING METAL(WHITE PEOPLE) METAL....WHY???
Posted: 11/30/2009 9:54:04 PM
Some so-called 'white music' can have plenty of groove...listen to groove metal for crying out loud...I don't even think I've seen a band that was exclusively white in that genre lol. Stoner rock is the same thing :)

Do ANY Men Read Profiles (First or at all?)
Posted: 11/30/2009 9:47:28 PM
womaninprogress - you know what the sad part about that is...I actually read the profile and will give a responce and then list off the things I have in common with them, but still get blown off anyway. I would date an older woman, but I'd feel a little awkward in the search. Most girls my age are just frustraiting the hell out of me lol.

Movie Music
Posted: 11/30/2009 12:32:52 PM
This just happens to be one of those things I have a bit of expertise in. I'm a huge fan of trailer music and great companies to look up for that are Epic Score, Immediate Music and X-Ray Dog. Video games these days also produce some pretty amazing music. I highly suggest you check out the God Of War II OST and if you want an amazing composer I highly recommend Inon Zhur.

Would you date a man who wore makeup?
Posted: 11/29/2009 6:45:52 PM
I wouldn't say I've gone that far, but I have been known to go down a pretty gothy path from time to time(that includes lipstick), but what can I say...I'm a metal musician...I like the look. I haven't done it in well over 2 years though and it's not something I do to often anyway. It's cost me a few dates in the past though and all the girls I've met who are generally into that are bisexual...I've got nothing against that, but I couldn't do that myself.

What is art?
Posted: 11/26/2009 12:01:41 PM
This is actually a great question. I am an artist myself and there are quite a few artists in my family and I have quite a few artistic friends, so I've been very privy to the opinions of artists my whole life and I've come to realize something about those opinions...they have two things in common: inconsistancy and a profound belief that art(in all its forms) superseeds the body and the physical universe.

The opinion changes from person to person and can not be so easily defined in a neat little package. Art is an individuals inner workings and a great communicator that will either connect to others or not. For instance: I listen to some music and I can't describe how it makes me feel and there are no words to be said because it goes so far beyond the senses that it feels like something so much bigger then yourself and the world. I feel that when I've discovered that that I've found the true essence of art.

Do ANY Men Read Profiles (First or at all?)
Posted: 11/26/2009 11:49:18 AM
I generally make a habit of reading the profile. Why? because first and foremost it's the personality that will attract me, not how the girl looks.

My problem is I hand out kudos to plenty off girls and get nothing in return. I'm not some sick perv or an ass. I generally point out pretty nice things and try to get to know them even better. It's not like I try to push relationship on every girl I talk to, but I still get shut out for some odd reason. I think it's because to many people like to assume things about me without actually getting to know me first....it's sad really.

condoms

I honestly don 't get that mentality at all. There are so many men out there who refuse to wear a condom and that's just BS to me. Any woman who lets a guy get with her and doesn't use one is an idiot in the first place. I always play it safe...no matter what!

This is a funny question actually. I personally don't think so, but don't shove it in your partners face. My brother's GF knows he does it, but she really doesn't want to see his porn...it bugs her, but other wise she doesn't care.

I thought it was a great album and seeing how I enjoyed the first one it only makes sense.

I have a few suggestions for you that you might really dig since you're into Sybreed. Check out: Xerath, Jester's Funeral, Malmonde and Textures.

I think you should dig anyone it not all of those bands.

I need an opinion on my profile
Posted: 8/13/2009 12:03:20 AM
I'm a very confident guy and I've hit on thousands of women, both online and out in the real world, but I don't really get anywhere...am I a bad looking chap? do I scare people(Don't mind the pictures as I don't tend to do the gothic thing very often and I really need new ones)

My personality is way out of the norm in many respects and I'm totally not what you'd expect. I don't really drink and I've never done drugs. I don't know...what do you think?

Well being an artist myself I certainly speak for myself and I'm sure every other artist when I say, Yes, art is still good and we still like it. It's only when an artist get bored of what's there that they create a new type of art. It's both scary and exciting!

You guys are having a very interesting debate.

I'd say hitler was more crazy then evil...I'm not a nazi, nor do I condone racisum, but some of his ideas and viewpoints were correct.

One of you said the whole thing about how some people think you die and you still move on as a celestial being and some believe you die and that's it...ect ect. I wouldn't say that's an opinion for most people. That's either a truth, belief or reality, but almost never an opinion.

Musical landslide from bad to worse
Posted: 5/28/2008 5:04:15 AM
Sanguus -

Since Protest sound disjointed to you, I suggest a band that doesn't sound disjointed in anyway, but are similar enough. Listen to: Colors by Between The Buried And Me.

They're a little heavier and more progressive then Protest, but they still have a similar sense of style.

I'm a fan of Coheed, too. They don't even come close to touching something like Dream Theater, though.

As for the rest of this thread...as far as I can see...music is geared towards women. It's women's opinion on music that are what make or break a trend. So it's tread following women who are to blame for the sorry state of the music world!

Your thoughts on the Church of Scientology
Posted: 5/26/2008 2:09:11 PM
Lots of negativity about Scientology. I wonder why?

I don't see a problem with it. It seems rather interesting really, but I guess the old saying is true "People fear and hate what they don't understand". I personally view every religion or spiritual belief system as a cult. Pretty much ever group you can join is a cult by definition of what "Cult" is in the dictionary.

Well, I guess no matter what it is...someone will hate it. I think most people have just come to their own illogical conclusions on subjects like this one. To many preconceived ideas for my liking.

Musical landslide from bad to worse
Posted: 5/26/2008 1:44:41 PM
I'm with ya, brother!

There is lots of good modern music, just not really popular stuff. You want some good thoughtful lyrics and music!? Listen to the album Scarsick by Pain Of Salvation. That's thinking mans music at its best! Strapping Young Lad can also provide a great bit of though...listen to Alien.

I know what you mean though. I listen to The Beatles and Queen...those guys were really talking about stuff in their music and it meant something. Most artist in this day and age have lost sight of that.

Sped21 -

Saying those three weren't very good choices. Coheed & Cambria are pretty damn famous and so are Moneed. Protest was an ok choice, but they're getting pretty well known! by Protest's next album, they'll have worldwide succsess, garanteed!

For the rock genre I only have one band I can think of. King's X. They are truly amazing and they were the very first band to play all their music in dropped tuning.

For the hard rock genre I only have one band. Thrice. They really challenge me and they just make good music, period.

For the metal genre I have a few. Pain Of Salvation, Mirrorthrone, Quo Vadis, Extol, Dali´s Dilemma.

Good and Evil
Posted: 5/25/2008 8:16:40 AM
Good and evil. Right and wrong. These are merely subjective terms. These things change from person to person. Society...or in otherwords...the majority, all have similar viewpoints and thus they dictate what is acceptable and what is not, but it doesn't mean they're right.

I, myself, in societies eyes would be put into a grey region. Some of my viewpoints are acceptable and some are just shot down as wrong or evil, but it's right for me.

I have my own spiritual beliefs, but I'll be damned if anyone tells me what is and is not ok to believe and have an opinion on.

Universe came from nothing
Posted: 5/16/2008 7:11:32 PM
adamf73, You have a very broad and open mind and you like the kind of person I'd love to have these such conversations with.

Lets look at it this way...conceive if you will, that thought isn't matter, nor is thinking or knowing. Say that consciousness is its own entity. A lifeform that doesn't need to be physical in order to exist. Then this living entity decides to be physical in one matter or another, then other entities just like it decide to do the same. Pretty soon everything around them becomes physical and thus we have the physical universe. An interesting way of looking at it, but it depends what you believe. Science is a tool, but it can't observe and know everything. A sad, but true reality.

Universe came from nothing
Posted: 5/16/2008 11:13:25 AM
This is an interesting discussion.

Some scientists have speculated that the universe has existed many times...that it expands, implodes, then expands again.

I have my own spiritual beliefs and one of my own thoughts on this is that the universe chose the be. A sentient being or brings that didn't exist, can exist by choosing to do so. If you believe in science, what's beyond the universe? if you believe in god, what's beyond that? the paradox will remain a mystery the physical creatures for eternity, but when you think about such things you want an answer. That's why philosophers and scientists do what they do. They want an answer. Some of us think we know the answer and some of us know the answer. So far the universe is what it is and it exists with a very simple system.

Metal Singers
Posted: 5/15/2008 12:31:07 AM
So who out there is a metal singer and what's your style?

I sing a mixture of Progressive, Death, and Black Metal.

Who inspired you to sing metal? Who did you practice to?

Anders Friden from In Flames was what got me into it. Opeth and Extol were my practice bands. They both gave me alot of power and longivity with my voice.
