Long distance relationships
Posted: 3/24/2017 11:14:28 AM
I didn't meet mine on a dating site. She is from Spain and lives in Belgium. We met through a mutual interest in writing, through Experience Project.

We wrote to each other for quite awhile until we knew each other's most intimate details...and we fell in love. We get together more frequently as our children get on their own and no longer need us. Also, I travel a lot for work and when I am in London or Hasselt we can be together. Soon she will be able to stay with me long term.

Beware of the shoot from the hip comments about LDR's. Not everyone has the character or ability and willingness to commit ---You either can make it work or not. There is longing and it can be difficult --- But like the song says, "And even be glad just to be sad, thinking of you."

I like the forums here and I still like to read profiles for fun. But, I have to admit that the real reason I look at profiles is to appreciate the treasure I have found. I have yet to see one local profile that can begin to compare with her. Sometimes I show her some profiles and we have a good laugh.

So, yes, you can find real love long distance, but it takes two special people to make it work.

Confused about You're too old for me responses from women
Posted: 3/24/2017 10:55:41 AM
Really...

Some older women haven't gotten the memo.

When I was looking, I read a number profiles, with long lists of demands, that left me with a "Yeah, right" attitude.

Reality will eventually visit us all.

He Sucks His Thumb!!!!

Ridiculous behaviour...

...Everyone knows you should suck your thumb in private.

Now, picking your nose...that's a different issue.

Only short people here?

Most women I meet are about 5' 4" but wear 8 inch platform pumps...

...My love life is thwarted by shoe styles.

I think of my age as an advancing case of decay...

Found dead, eaten by cats

Get a big cat food bowl and fill it.

That will buy your corpse a little extra time.

You're welcome in advance for the advice.

Would you date a felon or someone on probation?
Posted: 3/22/2017 12:32:47 PM
I would not date a woman felon for the reason she got caught.

I like successful women who know how to murder and steal and get away with it.

bald guys
Posted: 3/2/2017 7:46:30 AM
I have a bald spot.

It's never been an issue. If it was, I never met the woman anyway.

Besides, it's a two way street: the more requirements she throws at you, the more you can throw at her...

...But, people who live like that never find love anyway (unless she is Ms. Perfect and happens to run into Mr. Perfect)

Picky people usually sleep alone.

Do people over sixty still think they can have a new life???
Posted: 2/26/2017 3:10:29 PM
I'm 58 and my life has changed immensely...for the better.

If you are imaginative and have a desire to continue to be an active participant in the World, you will always have a new beginning.

If your heart's desire is to surround yourself with tired, frightened, old people and play golf...then you're just staying occupied until you die.

All your life you've heard people say, "life is short"...

...Well, now its short.

you are at an age where men shouldn't do the chasing. (I'm 58)

Make sure you have your act together: Get healthy, dress well, show your success and wisdom, be charming, mature, calm and in control...

...and let them chase you --- they will-- I guarantee it.

And don't be surprised if the ones that come to you are 10 to 15 years younger.

I speak from experience.

Horrible dilemma, advice welcome please
Posted: 2/26/2017 2:50:09 PM
I have a long distance relationship with a beautiful Spanish woman that lives in Belgium.

It is difficult in a number of ways, but our passion and love are incredible. Someday we will be together all the time, but for now we cross the Atlantic when we can.

I had romance knocked out of me a long time ago and when I found myself unhappy in my 50's I realized that it was what I needed. Then we found each other and after two years of long distance, 1000's of emails, Skype everyday and planning...we met. She stepped off the airport monorail and it was magic from that point on.

Advice: Don't be afraid to be a romantic fool...those that can't love with passion are the ones that need therapy.
Secondly, do what you have to to be together --- there is always a way. If you are not willing to take the chance, then she is not the love of your life.

Life wasn't meant to be safe and practical all the time.
