Truth tell'n
My heart
My time
Will come
By and By
So fine
The bind
Sublime
The lie
That We
Must be
Complete
Forever
Together
Just Me
And Thee
In love
Happy We

Are Looks so important???
Posted: 5/21/2014 11:28:25 AM
Long hair, short hair who cares!?! To quote Judge Judy (short hair) "Beauty fades, dumb is forever."

Hair is hair, you cut it, it grows back. You can put it up ,let it flow, curl it, straighten it, color it. shave it!

Healthy hair is beautiful hair. As long as it looks good on a person, I don't see what everyone is getting so bent out of shape about. Hats are fun, too, for those with not so beautiful hair. Or those pesky 'bad hair' days

And some people, possibly because they feel insecure about their looks, their face, grow their hair out in order to have a 'curtain' to hide behind. (or a 'bush' as the case may be with the curly girls amongst us!) NTTATWWT ;-)

What would be the perfect first meeting?
Posted: 5/20/2014 9:17:29 AM

1: We would meet in a public place were other people are around.
2: We would agree on a firm time for the meeting to last. 10min. - 30min.
3: Neither would leave for any reason until the time had elapsed.
4: We would not reveal whether we liked the other person or not.
5: 15min. after the meeting was over you could call or text the other person.
6: If the other person didn't respond you wouldn't ever contact them again

Is talking to the other person allowed, or is it just a staring match to see who blinks first?

Do you have a lot of white noise because you're single and how do you deal with it?
Posted: 5/19/2014 6:24:43 PM
I am a widow. I don't have much white noise. Some at first. Like, 'you might want to get a dog' as if a dog would fill in for my dead husband. Or the 'get out there and date' thing. Did it, fun for a time, miserable for another time, done that except for the dog...I prefer a cat for company.

Folks who change marital status through divorce seem to think they suffer in the same way and need to heal in the same way as those of us who lose spouses through death. Some things might be the same, but the 'white noise' is different.

The 'white noise' towards the bereaved is odd and not understanding and wondering why not just go on to another, why not just make another life with a person just like you had with the one before? It doesn't work that way. I don't really know how it works, but people are not interchangeable, switch out one husband or dog or cat for another one...

My sister is divorced and I am widowed and I find most folks tease her about dating, etc. but say nothing to me about finding a new love. Kind of a taboo subject. We seem to be in a different category of people. Go figure.

Dating, it's nothing personal, it's a sign of the times?
Posted: 5/18/2014 5:50:43 AM

When I met my ex-husband in August of 1991, I knew right away that we would get married, which we did, six months later. Moved across the ocean, had two kids, were married for 20 years. Not too shabby for a split-second decision.

TrustinKarma---previously you said you were glad you had the 'marriage experience', had 'the kids' and now you are happy you don't need a 'provider' anymore. Time to find someone who really interests you.

I understand that priorities change over time, but the way you write it sounds like you made a split second decision to go with the NDB (nice dull boy) aka good husband material, simply because he was a good provider. And that you had no real interest in him as a person, just as a means to an end---becoming a married lady and a mother. And you managed to stick it out till the kids were gone, even though there was no real passion or excitement, etc for a whole twenty years before you two split. If that was the case, how sad for both of you. He provided for you and your kids, but was merely 'tolerated' for the sake of expediency (what a rip off for him) and you got the 'marriage and family thing' out of the way, but sacrificed your own joy.

Hope that wasn't how it went down....

Good luck with the new beau. No sex since December!?! Hmmmm It's May now , right? :-0

Is she into me?
Posted: 5/13/2014 2:43:31 PM

I have been getting my haircut at a location for about a year or so, getting it cut by whomever. I have been going on weekends but just recently switched to every wednesday as it fits my schedule better. I met this other stylist (Angie) a few cuts ago and we have really hit it off every time. The last few times she has been more flirty and remembered things about me that I have told her (I go in only once a month, so its pretty impressive). As i said above i am not picky about who cuts my hair so last time i was in, a different woman asked me if i was ready and I sat in her chair. It was a slow day so when angie got done she sat in the chair next to me and started chatting with me, asked me about the class I was taking in college I told her about last time etc

All the stylists I have gone to, esp. those who I have 'hit it off with' and liked the haircut, kept notes on the cut and the color, etc--probably adding a few personal notes to the record so they would have something to chat about next time, if there was a 'next time'. So I wouldn't put too much stock in how impressive it was that she remembered things about you.

Some salons are more relaxed than others about these things, and, if a stylist is not working on her own client, often feels free to engage in banter with a client in another chair, esp. one she has interacted with previously.

Hairdressers got hit on all the time---there is a false sense of intimacy---a woman close to a man, grooming him, being close, and depending on relative heights, oftentimes the hairdressers chest is at eye level or thereabouts...

Like others have suggested, inquire in a roundabout way whether she has a BF or GF or whatever, by bringing it up in general conversation. Good luck, OP
